Analysis:
The Celtics are looking like contenders again.
After a disappointing Game 1 loss at home, Boston responded with a blowout Game 2 win before reclaiming home-court advantage in a Game 3 win in Philadelphia, and the Celtics can put the series on the brink with another win in Game 4 Saturday afternoon.
James Harden has cooled off after a scorching Game 1, but MVP Joel Embiid started to find his rhythm again in Game 3. Keeping the Sixers at bay on the road again will be a tall task.
The Phoenix Suns lost to the Denver Nuggets 118-106 in the go-ahead Game 5 of the Western Conference semifinals on Tuesday.
Denver has a 3-2 lead in the series, which will return to Phoenix on Thursday.
Denver’s Nikola Jokic had a triple-double and led all scorers with 29 points, 13 rebounds, and 12 assists. The team’s second-best scorer was Bruce Brown with 25 points off the bench.
The Philadelphia 76ers moved to within one win of a series victory over the Boston Celtics in the NBA playoffs on Tuesday as the Denver Nuggets thrashed the Phoenix Suns to edge closer to a place in the conference finals.
A towering performance in Boston from NBA Most Valuable Player Joel Embiid helped the Sixers power to a 115-103 victory over the Celtics to stun the home fans into silence.
The result gives the Sixers a 3-2 lead in the best-of-seven series, meaning they will advance to the Eastern Conference finals with a win in game six back in Philadelphia on Thursday.
In the Western Conference, the top-seeded Nuggets are also in the driving seat against Phoenix after pummeling the Suns 118-102 in Denver.
Denver star Nikola Jokic finished with a 29-point triple-double for a win that leaves the Nuggets 3-2 up in the series, with game six in Arizona on Thursday.
The Sixers will head into their clash with Boston brimming with confidence after an assured game-five display.
Embiid led the scoring in a superbly balanced Sixers offensive performance, with five players finishing in double figures.
Tyrese Maxey tormented the Celtics with 30 points, including six three-pointers, while point guard James Harden was a constant thorn in the side of the Celtics, finishing with 17 points, 10 assists, and eight rebounds.
Boston coach Joe Mazzulla was left ruing what he described as his team’s worst performance of the postseason.
Boston never recovered after the Sixers pulled away to lead by 14 points in the second quarter.
Although the Celtics closed the deficit to nine at half-time they were unable to apply sustained pressure.
The Sixers always found a way of responding to keep them at arm’s length throughout the second half, with Philadelphia leading by double digits for almost the entirety of the third and fourth quarters.
Boston’s scoring was led by a 36-point display from Jayson Tatum while Jaylen Brown finished with 24 points.
In Denver, the Nuggets took control early on with a 35-point first quarter before Phoenix roared back to outscore the home side 25-17 in the second quarter.
Phoenix took a brief lead in the final minutes of the first half but Denver hit back to lead 52-49 at the break.
The Nuggets then roared out of the blocks in the opening minutes of the second half, outscoring Phoenix 21-6 to open up a 73-55 lead. Denver outscored Phoenix 39-25 in the third quarter and led by as much as 24 points in the final frame.
Phoenix coach Monty Williams pulled his starters from the floor long before the end as Denver celebrated a crucial win.
Jokic finished with 29 points, 13 rebounds and 12 assists to lead Denver’s scorers, while Michael Porter Jr. had 19 points including five three-pointers.
Devin Booker led the Suns with 28 points, while Kevin Durant finished with 26.
Nuggets head coach Michael Malone said an improved defensive display had laid the foundation for his team’s emphatic win.
“We didn’t play any defense in the two games we lost in Phoenix,” Malone said. “When we’re not running, and we’re not defending, we’re going nowhere.

NBA Analysis:
Less than two weeks ago, the Miami Heat were trailing with under five minutes to go in the final Eastern Conference play-in game against the Chicago Bulls. At that point, it was easy to see a world in which the Heat wouldn’t even make the playoffs — and more challenging to see them pulling off one of the biggest upsets in NBA history after doing so.
And yet, that’s exactly what the Heat did Wednesday night, riding 42 points from Jimmy Butler to beat the top-seeded Milwaukee Bucks — who entered the postseason as the clear favorites to lift the Larry O’Brien Trophy for a second time in three years — 128-126 in overtime at Fiserv Forum in Game 5 of this first-round series, sending Giannies Antetokounmpo and his teammates crashing out of the postseason in the process. Miami advances to face the New York Knicks in the conference semifinals beginning Sunday.
In many ways, Game 5 was a repeat of the one the teams played in Miami 48 hours earlier — up to and including the Heat pulling off a ridiculous comeback to stun the Bucks. While Miami controlled more of this game than it did Game 4, the Bucks were in control for large portions of it and took a 22-6 lead into the fourth quarter.
But after Milwaukee didn’t score for over three minutes to start the fourth and didn’t make a field goal for nearly five minutes, Miami slowly dragged itself back into the game — in large part because Milwaukee’s offense couldn’t get started in the final period.
Stephen Curry scored 31 points, Draymond Green had his highest-scoring game in more than five years and the Golden State Warriors won the first road game of their series against Sacramento, beating the Kings 123-116 Wednesday night to take a 3-2 lead.
Green had 21 points and seven assists in his first game back in Sacramento since getting ejected and later suspended for stepping on Domantas Sabonis chest in a Game 2 loss.
Golden State now can try to wrap up the series with a fourth straight win at home on Friday night.
The defending champion Warriors withstood another raucous crowd in Sacramento and showed off their road mettle that had been missing so often this season.
Golden State won only 11 games away from home in the regular season and lost the first two games in Sacramento before making the key plays in the second half to beat the Kings and extend their record to 28 straight playoff series with at least one road win.
The Kings trailed by 12 early in the fourth quarter after a layup by Curry but wouldn’t go away. They chipped away at the deficit behind 11 points in the next five minutes from Monk — who went down briefly with what looked like a left knee injury — to make it a one-point game with just over four minutes left.
But the Warriors pulled away late after Monk missed a potential game-tying 3 with 1:04 to play.
Andrew Wiggins made a turnaround jumper to make it a five-point game and Curry put it away with a three-point play with 22.1 seconds left that made it 122-114.
Klay Thompson added 25 points, Wiggins had 20 and Kevon Looney matched his career-high with 22 rebounds.
De’Aaron Fox scored 24 despite a broken index finger on his shooting hand, and Monk and Sabonis added 21 points apiece for Sacramento.

Two nights after promising that the Memphis Grizzlies would stave off elimination, Bane delivered in a 116-99 Game 5 win over the Los Angeles Lakers on Wednesday, scoring a game-high 33 points, grabbing 10 rebounds, and dishing out five assists. Then Bane guaranteed that the Grizzlies would return to FedExForum, where they had the best home record in the NBA this season.
“We got to come with the right edge and the right road mentality, but I said it out there and I’ll say it again,” Bane said. “We’re going to be back for a Game 7 in front of the best fans in the NBA.”

2023 Sea Southeast 32nd Asian Games Update
The Southeast Asian Games symbol was introduced during the 1959 SEAP GAMES in Bangkok, depicting six rings that represent the six founding members, and was used until the 19697 edition in Jakarta. The Philippine Cricket Association said on its Facebook page that the team called Blue Caps is already assured of at least a silver medal and will go for the gold in their next match.

Meanwhile, the Philippine men’s football team suffered a 3-0 loss to Indonesia in the men’s football tournament of the 32nd Southeast Asian Games at the National Olympic Stadium in Phnom Penh, Cambodia.

Asian Sea Games 2023 Football Update
Over the years, football has been a big part of the Southeast Asian Games, and the Southeast Asian Games 2023 in Phnom Penh, Cambodia, is no different.
The 32nd edition of the SEA Games has two football tournaments, one for men and one for women.
The men’s football tournament at Cambodia 2023 is an under-22 affair and features 10 nations while the eight-team women’s competition has no age restrictions.
For both events, the nations have been divided into two groups (five teams each for men and four for women).
After the group stages, the top two teams from each group will progress to the semi-finals. The two losing semi-finalists will play in the bronze medal match while the winning teams from the last four will battle it out in the final.

Thailand is the most successful team in SEA Games men’s football with 16 gold medals while Vietnam, with seven golds, has been the most dominant team in the women’s game at the biennial multi-sport event.
The men’s football tournament at the SEA Games 2023 will start on April 29, a week before the official opening ceremony, and run till May 16. The women’s event will be played from May 3 to 15.

Ilang koponan ang nakapasok sa NBA Playoffs?
Opisyal na 16 kuponan (walo sa bawat conference) ang nakapasok sa NBA postseason. Sinasabi naming “opisyal” dahil sa 20 kabuuang koponan ang naglalaro pagkatapos ng 82-game regular season, ngunit apat (dalawa sa bawat conference) ang natatanggal sa Play-In Tournament.

Sino ba naman ang hindi nakakakilala sa isa sa mga pinakamalakas at matagumpay na koponan sa kasaysayan ng NBA? Ang Golden State Warriors ay nagpakitang-gilas sa larangan ng basketball sa kanilang apat na titulo sa loob ng walong taon. Sa kanilang matatag na pagsasanib, sila ang tinitingala bilang paboritong magwagi sa pagbabalik ng NBA season ngayong 2023.

Sa kabila ng lahat ng mga ito, hindi natin alam kung anong magiging kahihinatnan ng NBA season ngayong 2023. Kaya’t abangan na lang natin ang kaganapan at tingnan kung sino ang magwawagi sa championship.
